Cafe Negril

I happened to wander in after leaving a party, pissed off, and I didn’t want to end the night pissed off, so I went into Cafe Negril on Frenchman because I liked what I heard coming out of the open door, actually, I passed by at first, then I went in, and about 20 minutes later, I hear “Lenny Kravitz on the drums.” Yes, it was him, didn’t see him come or go but he played the drums with this great little white boy Southern style funk band. Then I went to leave, it was after 1 a.m., I was tired, but as I passed, I heard a brass band, right across the street in a tiny little bar that was lit up like a Christmas tree. On the stage were about 6 musicians to start, but over the next hour or so, the band kept growing and changing with guys wandering in with trombones and mouth harps and guitars. The lead singer wore sunglasses. It was a banner night.
